Abstract: Religion and science are important parts in human history. The adversary between these two does not have to happen, if we want to learn to make the religious ideas meet science, that actually has last for a long time. Religion based science learning, is one of the solutions that can make them meet. The learning process will be more effective, if the teacher can relate the nature phenomenon (science) to religious ideas. This way, the expectation of having future generation with good intelligence in science, and strong belief in God Almighty, can be achieved optimally.

Abstract: It was found that there are at least 50% of Indonesian teachers, who do not have the quality required by the National Education Standard (SPN). Therefore, it is necessary to build a strong foundation to develop teachers’ quality with average standard, not only the minimum one. In relation with teaching, two terms are quite difficult to disassociate. They are ‘instructor’ and ‘teacher’. There is a difference between those terms. ‘Instructor’ is a person who gives a push to others to do the activity, with a target to reach. That way, a good instructor usually can teach better. While ‘teacher’ is a person who conducts a learning activity with his students. He must be able to teach well and have good behavior to be a role model.

Abstract: This paper points to the extended function of learning that yet not many realize. It reviews some interesting points on the work of human brain, and how it is related to the learning process. It also reviews the characteristics of media, and relates it to the process of learning. Some alternatives and examples are proposed on how the media can best suit the teaching and learning process. Finally it comes to some future works, that may be done to develop teaching-learning media using computer technology, that is as suitable for the teacher as it is sophisticated for IT experts.

Abstract: This research is focused on analyzing the policy of education improvement quality. Based on the research on policy,using approach model on policy research, and the analysis in input, process, and output related to decision makers, it is found that there are difficulties in mechanism and technical problems in making policies, due to lack of understanding in variable of quality improvement of education. The result shows that the regulation related to education improvement quality has not been made. The available policy is issued based on short-term needs. So it is necessary to organize a control in management accountability.

This subject represent items which abstraction. They need imagination to comprehending it. The teacher makes animation about element, mixture and compound can assist student in differentiating the items content so that student can be complete of learning better. Menuju Pendidikan Berbasis Masyarakat dalam Otonomi Daerah di Kalimantan Timur

Abstract: The quality of education is now starting to stretch because of the education autonomy. The local government starts to use 20 % of the regional budget (APBN) for education improvement. Therefore, every regency in East Kalimantan competes to improve their quality of education. We can see that Bontang, Balikpapan, Samarinda, and Kutai tidy up their education management based on the teachers’ competence and welfare is carried out to face such condition. To reach the teachers’ competence, the government has sent those who are not in S1 level yet to university/college. This program is carried out by using the regional budget and collaborating with Mulawarman University Samarinda, as a state university in East Kalimantan. As for the teachers’ welfare, the government of East Kalimantan has given local intensive for both state and private teachers’.

Abstract: This study is based on on the problems come up in the process of self development in classroom activities, especially in SMP Nasional KPS Balikpapan. The main problem is how to develop multiple intelligences through learning process. This study is aimed at finding out how much cooperative in the learning process. The result shows that by using cooperative learning, the students’ multiple intelligences can be improved.

Abstract: This study was carried out on November 2006, and aimed at finding out the effecting of constructivism approach in learning Pythagorean Theorem for student of SMP Nasional KPS Balikpapan. The subject of this study was students on class VIII-3 SMP Nasional KPS Balikpapan. The result showed that the student who passed reach 42,17 % in cycle 1 and 86,96 % in cicle 2.
