Pentingnya Unsur Kebahasaan dalam Setiap Kompetensi Dasar Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia

Abstract: Language feature is a very important thing in learning Bahasa Indonesia. It is because every good and right linguistic process must be along with linguistic understanding. Generally, students get their linguistic understanding when they are in Elementary School, directly or indirectly. It is expected that language feature acquisition and stressing could be automatically realized by the language user while using the language orally or in written. But in fact, people do not really care about the language feature because of the existence of slang, and spoken language effectively that often affect written language. In the learning process of Bahasa Indonesia in Middle or High School, language feature is not written in every basic competence. While in practice, students must involve the language feature.  Therefore, teachers of Bahasa Indonesia are expected to insert the language feature in the topic or basic competence where it is necessary. That way, in the language practice, students not only use language as a means of communication, but also pay attention to the language feature.  And they can understand the information implied in the language.

Abstract: Problem-based learning is a kind of approach in learning which helps students to find problem from a real situation/event. Students will be more active in the learning process and able to develop their thinking and problem solving skills. The aim of this study was to improve X-A students’ thinking ability in Biology. The instruments used were observation sheets, students’ worksheet, and field record. The writer found an increase in students’ thinking pattern from their questioning and answering ability, from low-level thinking (knowledge,comprehension,application) to high-level thinking (analysis,synthesis, and evaluation).

Abstract: Various kinds of modernization can be done to improve the quality of education. One of them is by applying an assessment in which students’ activities are involved. So far the assessment carried out by teachers scarcely uses one that measures students’ performance in learning. The result of this study showed that Performance Assessment could improve the students’ understanding of biology concepts, their learning motivation, and develop teacher’s creativity in teaching biology.

Science Garden Sebagai Media Pembelajaran untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Kerja Ilmiah Siswa

Abstract: This study was based on the problem emerged in Physics learning process, especially in class 7.1 of SMP Nasional KPS. The students scientific performance ability in observation, the use of instruments and materials for experiment,and the communication of their experiment result was still low. That was why the writer used the concept ‘Science Garden’, that is a garden in which the students could find various kinds of Physics media in real size. This study is aimed at finding out how science garden can improve students’ scientific performance in Physics learning. The subjects of this study were the students ofclass 7.1 of SMP Nasional KPS Balikpapan. It was carried out on December 2006, on the 1st, 2nd, and 3 rd week, in two cycles. The research observation towards scientific performance used direct observation in the learning process. It was found in the result that in cycle I the average of students performance reached 73.33%, and in cycle II the average reached 82.50%. There was an increase of 9.17% in the students’ performance.

Abstract: The growth of students’ systematic thinking is one of important things that should be developed in learning Mathematics. However, to grow such systematic thinking needs specific efforts so the students can turn it up themselves. This writing illustrates how the use of scale as a media could turn up students’ systematic thinking on the concept of linear equation system, without teacher’s direct interference.

Pemanfaatan Monograf dan Batang Napier sebagai Media Pembelajaran Berhitung Matematika Dasar

Abstract: This study was aimed at finding other variation in learning whole number multiplication, to motivate students in learning so they can improve their counting skill in whole number multiplication by using Monograph and Napier Bar. The result of the study showed an increase of students’ average score, 72.3 in the first cycle became 84 in the next cycle. The questionnaires showed that 60% of the students were categorized as very interested, 25.83% were categorized as interested, and 14.17% were categorized as quite interested. From the result we can say that Monograph and Napier Bar could raise students’ interest so they were motivated in learning addition, subtraction, and multiplication of whole number.

Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif Peta Konsep untuk Meningkatkan Motivasi dan Hasil Belajar Siswa

Abstract: The aim of this study was to apply concept mapping method which is student centered, in order to improve students’ motivation and involvement in learning, and also their learning result in Civics on the competence of ‘Ideologi Pancasila’. The subjects of the study were the 8th grade students of SMP Nasional KPS Balikpapan. The learning strategy applied was cooperative learning: concept mapping. The result of the study showed that this learning model can be applied as one of the alternatives to carry out Civics learning well, and that it gave good effect on students’ activities and creativity since it motivated students to cooperate in learning groups. They felt more comfortable, and got better score.

Penerapan Metode Collaborative Learning untuk Meningkatkan Pemahaman Materi Mata Kuliah Metodologi Penelitian

Abstract: A good study device is very necessary to reach a high quality study. The target of this research is to: (1) implement learning scenario using Collaborative Learning, (2) measure the impact of collaborative learning method in understanding the research methodology items, (3) measure the intrinsic motivation of the students in understanding a material, and (4) see the knowledge and psycho-motoric aspects comprehensively. This research is conducted in four months with five steps in every cycle. The steps are planning, action, observation, reflection, and evaluation. The result of the first cycle can be improved in the next cycles. It was found in the implementation in the cycle that there was a change towards a more optimum progress. Optimum implementation of learning scenario, is marked by the existence of arrangement and application of learning scenario that make the students involved actively, and involvement of various learning activities and resources in a whole. The result of this research showed that there was improvement of understanding of research methodology items in cognitive, affective and psycho-motoric aspects comprehensively based on the basic competence determined.
